Ron and Joanne have taught firearms skills for 12 years and enjoy working with small and large groups.

Ron comes from a background of 50 years in criminal justice as a retired police officer,  detective, bombing investigator, and trained forensic scientist with two postgraduate Master of Arts and Science degrees.  He has 20 years of experience as a court-appointed investigator for the defense, conducting  homicide and felony investigations at the trial and appellate levels giving him a unique perspective on the justice system. He has participated in hundreds of homicides and felony assault investigations and testified in state and federal courts in three states as an expert witness.  He also practiced clinical mental health for years as a licensed clinician specializing in the forensic investigation of behavior and criminal culpability.  He has been an avid Search & Rescue  volunteer for 40 years. He has 700+ hrs of firearms training as a student and instructor and has multiple  "Distinguished Graduate" certificates from Front Sight Firearms Training Institute. He is a Utah Certified Concealed Carry instructor and a NRA  Certified Firearms Instructor.  Pistol, Personal Protection in the Home, Personal Protection Outside the Home, Refuse to Be a Victim program,  Range Safety Officer and Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act (LEOSA) proficiency examiner for qualified retired law enforcement officers for national concealed carry privelages.  

Joanne is a retired registered nurse and advanced practice registered nurse (ARNP) with 41+ years experience in trauma, ICU, palliative care and  a certified Legal Nurse Consultant expert witness. She also holds two post graduate Masters degrees in nursing and health care leadership.  She has over 400 hours of firearms training and is also a graduate of Front Sight Fire Arms Institute.  NRA  Instructor and Certified Pistol Instructor.  She specializes in women's issues and needs in handgun training which can be very different than men.  She is very focused and an excellent instructor with years of teaching experience in medical training programs.
